The menorah is one of Judaism's most recognizable and sacred symbols, representing the seven-branched lampstand that stood in the ancient Temple in Jerusalem. The eight-branched version shown here, called a Hanukkiah, is specifically used during Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, with one branch serving as the shamash (helper candle) used to light the other seven.
